The goal of the Seattle PAL summer camps are to: 1) promote health and fitness activities for young people, 2) provide an opportunity for youth to meet and connect with police officers in non emergency setting, 3) teach interns how to work with youth and give back to their community, and 4) to have fun outdoors in the summer.

Interns from the Seattle PAL summer internship program work with officers to bring a variety of sport instruction, games, and drills to youth over the course of two days. Past sport activities include, baseball / t-ball, soccer, basketball, and flag football. This summer we are looking to expand and offer ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, and possibly kick ball.

Kids who participate say they enjoy learning new sports, working with the interns, getting free shirts, eating Officer Lucas’ BBQ lunches, and playing games with friends.

In 2019, several successful summer sport camps took place with John Rodgers Elementary , Meadowbrook Community Center, The Native Education Summer Program, Garfield Community Center, Bitter Lake Community Center, and South Park Community Center. Over 300 youth participated .

During 2022, activities will occur at drop in Summer of Safety sites organized by Seattle Parks and Recreation. South Park CC Mondays, Bitter Lake CC Tuesdays, and Van Asselt CC on Wednesdays. 1-3pm Summer of Safety Locations
