The Seattle Police Department hosts 20-30 young people for an internship that provides 150+ hours (over eight weeks) of hands-on activities to learn about Seattle’s collaborative policing model, how police departments can positively impact communities through outreach events, and to foster meaningful relationships with police officers from many different units.
In previous years, interns have been able to see Harbor Patrol, receive K-9 demonstrations, learn about cyber crimes, speak with gang unit detectives, tour the SWAT facilities, work on community service projects, lead Seattle PAL summer sport camps, practice various job skills, and learn how to create a balanced budget with the money they earn.
The 2023 program will begin in July. Applications usually open in March.
